CridManager 2.0

We have an awful lot of jobs that can be done to help CridManager 2.0 come to life.

We need help for:

Of course all of that can be intermixed as you like. The foremost goal is to have fun!

CridManager [1] has a successful two-year-history to look at. It has been and still is a reliable companion for managing your Siemens Gigaset M7x0 set top box across europe.

From the first release back in Januar 2005 till now there have been an amazing 65,000 [2] downloads for CridManager and it's companion TV-Browser-Plugin, with Version 1.4.0, being the most popular version of CridManager, having 10,000 downloads [3] on it's own.

CridManager's spread over europe is shown by the number of localizations. CridManager is available in german, english, french, spanisch and czech, having dutch as sixth language in the pipeline.

Now CridManager 1.* reaches the end of it's lifecycle. There are numerous new challenges, whereof the replacement of the original Siemens firmware by a standalone VDR firmware is not the least. Have a look at our intentions for more ideas. The design of CridManager 1.* is not flexible enough to meet those challenges. Any new feature to include increases the amount of redesign and workarounds necessary. In the same degree maintainability of the source decreases.

Therefore we decided to completely re-design CridManager 2.0 and start from the scratch. For some weeks now we're discussing ideas to found CridManager 2.0 on a solid baseplate. From the beginning we had an easy extensibility in mind to enable others to contribute their own ideas.

Now we think we have a basis to go public with our ideas.

This Project Portal is the central station for developing CridManager 2.0. One of the most noticeable changes is that CridManager 2.0 now is an international project with english as its project language. We hope that this will encourage more people from all over europe to join and support this project.

Of course, this plan needs human resources. The CridManager team currently consists of three programmer's with different amounts of, but usually low, spare time, and a graphics designer. That's it. Therefore we're in an urgent need for help. Have a look at the box in the upper right for more information about it.

Don't be shy or reserved, even if you think, you're not an experienced designer/programmer/documenter. We aren't either. We don't bother. We're here to have fun and to learn. Learning is a major motivation for us! Just try.
